Snap Art ๐
Snap Art another one from the collection in these Snap Art clips, Thirteen years following the end of the Hundred Year War, Avatar Aang and his friends, in their efforts to bring balance to the world, have established Republic City as a home for people of all nations, but Aang feels it is incomplete without Air Nomads. While gathering Air Nomad relics and restoring the desolate Southern Air Temple, Aang is ambushed and injured by the Denied, a group of non-bending extremists searching for a relic tied to an ancient airbender named Sonam. After repelling the attack and saving the temple from being destroyed in the fight, Aang travels to Republic City to warn Katara, who is acting as the city's council representative. Curious about Sonam, Aang consults with his past lives and learns from Avatar Xian that Sonam was an Air Nomad Avatar with a staff that could channel energy from the Spirit World and grant airbending to non-benders. Believing the Denied are after the staff, Aang sends messages to his friends—Sokka, once again residing in the Southern Water Tribe; Toph, who trains earthbenders in metalbending; and Zuko, the current Fire Lord of the Fire Nation—asking for help before journeying to Sonam's last known location atop Mount Baihu. At the mountain, Aang discovers the frozen body of an airbender from 5,000 years ago named Tagah. After reviving him, Tagah persuades Aang to accompany him to a hidden island where the staff is said to have been hidden. Aang, Tagah, and the rest of the group begin their journey on Zuko's air ship. Aang shares with Tagah his hope that the Air Nomads can one day be restored, and while Tagah shares this vision, he expresses prejudice toward the other bending nations. While flying through the storm surrounding the island, the group encounters the Denied, who attack them. As Sokka, Katara, Toph, and Zuko battle them, Aang and Tagah use airbending to clear a path through the storm. Tagah's increasingly ruthless methods, including nearly killing the Denied by crushing their ship, cause Katara's to distrust him. Katara pleads for Aang to abandon his pursuit of the staff due to the dangers of the mission and her reservations about Tagah, but Aang dismisses her concern, prioritizing his desire to restore the Air Nomads. Once the group reaches the island, Aang retrieves the staff. Tagah attempts to follow but is confronted by Katara. Revealing his true intentions to create an Air empire to dominate the other nations, Tagah attacks and kills the group, including Aang, and then steals Appa and the staff. As Aang's spirit travels to an alternate realm, Sonam's spirit appears to him and recounts Tagah's past. She reveals that Tagah betrayed her after being consumed by trauma from witnessing the slaughter of Air Nomads during the rise of the Earth Kingdom. Tagah tried to convince Sonam to create an army of airbenders to fight back, but when she refused, Tagah stole her staff to do so himself. After connecting the staff to Sonam's temple, Tagah's rage and new connection to the Spirit World turned him into a monstrous version of himself. A battle between the two ensued and though Sonam was fatally wounded, she trapped Tagah in a sphere of energy. Before succumbing to her injuries, Sonam raised her temple into the Spirit World and hid her staff in such a way that only another Avatar could retrieve it. Sonam pleads with Aang to stop Tagah before he reconnects the staff to the temple. Katara is resurrected due to her body falling into a pool full of spirit water, which she used to revive and heal the others. Aang then summons the Ocean Spirit to open a portal to the Spirit World in pursuit of Tagah. Finding the Spirit World thrown into imbalance, the group seeks the aid of the spirit Gorillavark, who helps them return to Republic City. Tagah has pulled Sonam's temple from the Spirit World, which descends upon Republic City. Aang confronts Tagah while the rest of the team fights the newly-empowered Denied. Tagah once again connects Sonam's staff to the temple and transforms, but despite his increased power, Aang still manages to reclaim the staff. Enraged by Tagah's accusations that he failed to protect the Air Nomads, Aang briefly succumbs to a corrupted Avatar State. Before delivering a fatal blow, memories of Monk Gyatso restores his resolve and he instead destroys Sonam's staff. Its destruction strips the Denied of their airbending and causes the temple and Tagah to fade away. Before disappearing, Aang tells Tagah to forgive himself and let go of his grief, shame, and anger. Aang also forgives himself and is finally at peace with his past of running away from his Avatar duties and allowing the Hundred Year War to occur. In the aftermath, Aang begins building a new Air Temple near Republic City, finally allowing the city to be truly complete and for people of all nations. Speaking with Sonam's spirit, he concludes that the true legacy of the Air Nomads lies not in power but in their values and culture, which can be passed on to future generations. Together, the group welcomes new Air Acolytes and discovers a surviving herd of sky bison on a remote island, Dou watch and enjoy.
